Mayor Skraba called the study session to order at 6:30pm in the Council Chambers.

PUBLIC HEARINGS NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Ely will hold two Public Hearings on June 21, 2022 at Ely City Hall, Council Chambers at 209 E Chapman St, Ely, Minnesota.

Public Hearing at 4:45pm to hear public comment regarding Ordinance 358 for the Sale of Land at 30 S 1st Ave E.

Public Hearing at 5:00pm to hear public comment regarding Ordinance 357 and 359 regarding Short Term Rental licensing in the City of Ely. The City of Ely limits 35 Short Term Rentals in R-1, R-2, RT and SMU, we currently have 25 licensed Short Term Rentals.

All interested parties may submit communication to the Clerk’s Office, 209 E Chapman St, Ely, MN, 55731, 218-365-3224 Ext 1, deputyclerk@ely.mn.us, or in person at the public hearing.

REQUEST FOR QUOTES

The City of Ely is requesting quotes for the demolition of three residential properties located in Ely on behalf of the property owner. A copy of the plans and specifications can be reviewed at Ely City Hall starting the week of June 13th. The City of Ely reserves the right to refuse any and all quotes and to award the project in the best interest of the City of Ely and the property owners. We will be accepting bids until 3 pm on Thursday June 30th. This project is anticipated to be funded by the Department of Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ELY, MINNESOTA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 20, SECTION 20.2 SALES OF LAND CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF ELY

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELY DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. Chapter 20, Section 2, of the City Code of the City of Ely, Minnesota is amended to read as follows:
SEC. 20.2.59. AUTHORIZING SALE OF REAL PROPERTY TO MATTHEW STUPNIK. The Council of the City of Ely is hereby authorized to transfer, for the price of Two Dollars ($2.00) and the Mayor and Clerk-Treasurer are hereby authorized to execute all documents and perform all acts necessary for the transfer to Matthew Stupnik, subject to terms and conditions of the Purchase Agreement Between The City of Ely and Matthew Stupnik executed on May 28, 2022 including but not limited to The City of Ely’s Right of Re-entry and easements of record on the real property legally described as follows:
Lots 1-4, Block 23, ELY.

The regular meeting of the Ely City Council was called to order by Mayor Skraba at 5:30pm in the Council Chambers.

ABSENT: Council members Kess and Callen

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Debeltz/Campbell moved to approve the minutes from the April 28, 2022 Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting, and the May 3, 2022 Regular Council Meeting. Motion Carried 5-0-2 with Kess and Callen Absent.
