CITY OF WINTON

The Board of Appeal and Equalization for the City of Winton and will meet on Thursday, April 16, 2020 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the Winton Community Center, 102 Main Street N, Winton, MN. The St. Louis County Assessor will be represented by telephone. Some City Council may also be represented by telephone. The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor.

If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact your assessor’s office to discuss your concerns. If you disagree with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the local Board of Appeal and Equalization. The board will review your assessments and may make corrections as needed. Generally, you must appeal to the local board before appealing to the county board of appeal and equalization.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Ely will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 5:30pm the meeting will be held via video/teleconference.

In accordance with the requirements of Minn. Stat. Section 13D.021, Mayor Chuck Novak, has determined that an in person meeting in not practical or prudent because of a health pandemic or an emergency declared under Chapter 12 of the Minnesota Statutes.

Because of the City of Ely’s Proclamation and Declaration of Emergency, it has been determined that attendance at the regular meeting location by members of the public is not feasible.

The April regular meeting of the Winton City Council has been changed to Monday, April 13, 2020 at 6:00 PM in the Winton Community Center.

The April council meeting has been changed to comply with the Minnesota Governor’s enhanced “Stay at Home” declaration in effect from March 27, 2020 to April 10, 2020.

I, Chuck Novak, Mayor of the City of Ely, do hereby suspend all meetings of Boards, Commissions and Committees of the City of Ely until further Notice.

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented an unprecedented challenge to our country, state, county and city. It is imperative that we take steps in an attempt to stay ahead of this challenge and take all measures recommended by the Federal and State governments intended to prevent a further spread of the virus as well as implementing a response strategy.
