RALPH L. RICHTSMEIER

RALPH L. RICHTSMEIER Ralph Richtsmeier passed on peacefully April 25, 2024 at his home in Babbitt, Minnesota. Ralph was born May 24, 1928 in Franklin County, Iowa to Herman and Antke Richtsmeier. He grew up on a farm near Ackley, Iowa and later worked as an electrician. Ralph (Rudy) played softball, horseshoes, and courted Betty Hoversten roller skate dancing. They married and eventually moved to Babbitt in 1956.

Ralph enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, camping, cross country skiing, gardening, dancing, reading, playing cards and stayed active his entire life. He walked daily and had his morning coffee with the guys at the Cafe or more recently at the Senior Center. He served in the Army during the Korean War, was a train engineer retiring from Reserve Mining after 30 years. He then worked on the railroad in Waseca, Minnesota for several years before retiring in 1993. Ralph was a lifetime member of the Woodland Presbyterian Church, Odd Fellows and VFW.

Survivors include his wife Betty, sons: Timothy Richtsmeier of Babbitt and Jeffrey (Irma) Richtsmeier of Rochester, Minnesota, a daughter Rebecca Richtsmeier of Woodbury, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Herman, Harold, Alvin, John, Ervin, and Raymond, sisters: Anna, Esther, Gladys and Alfreda.

Service will be at 10:00am Saturday May 25, 2024 at the Woodland Presbyterian Church in Babbitt, followed by a visitation with coffee in the church. Burial will be held at the Argo Cemetery, Babbitt following the visitation.
