(2) Council Persons: 4 year terms

Residents must file between July 28, 2020 and August 11, 2020. An affidavit of candidacy must be filled out and returned to the City Clerk before 5 PM on August 11, 2020. Candidates must be 21 years of age and have resided in the City of Winton for 30 days prior to the November 3, 2020 election. The filing fee is $2.00. A copy of the plans and specifications can be reviewed at Ely City Hall starting the week of June 29th. The City of Ely reserves the right to refuse any and all quotes and to award the project in the best interest of the City of Ely. We will be accepting bids until 3 pm on Monday, July 6th.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: that the Primary Election will be held at 27 South 1st. Avenue, East (the Senior Center) on TUESDAY, August 11, 2020, at which time the polls will be open from the hours of 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.

REQUEST FOR ELECTION JUDGES

The City of Ely is accepting applications for Election Judges for the Primary Election on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 and for the General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

Judges must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of Minnesota for at least 20 days. Election training will be provided prior to the election.

The City of Ely along with the Secretary of State’s office will be making extra safety precautions throughout the election season for the safety of our voters and election judges.

Application forms for an Election Judge can be found on the City website at www.ely.mn.us or at the City Hall on the table in the foyer or the Clerk’s Office, located at 209 E Chapman St., Ely MN 55731. If you have questions, please call our office at 218-226-5449. Applications must be submitted to the Clerk’s Office by Tuesday, July 2, 2020.

Mayor Novak called the Ely City Council Meeting to order at 5:30pm.

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Callen/Campbell moved to approve the minutes from the May 19, 2020 Regular Council Meeting, and the May 26, 2020 Study Session. Roll Called: Council Member A.Forsman-Yes, Kess-Yes, Debeltz-Yes, Omerza-Yes, Callen-Yes, Campbell – Yes, and Mayor Novak-Yes. Motion Carried Unanimously.

School Board Meeting Minutes April 6, 2020 (Board approved 5/11/2020)

1.0 The regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 696 was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Marsnik.
2.0 On roll call the following directors were present via teleconference: Colarich, Mann, Marsnik, Omerza, Pointer, Sjoberg. Also present via teleconference: Erik Erie, Superintendent; Tom Coombe, Ely Echo; Keith Vandervort, Timberjay; Megan Anderson, Anne Oelke, Tim Leeson.

4.1 Moved by Sjoberg, seconded by Colarich, to approve the agenda as

3.0 Moved by Colarich, seconded by Omerza, to approve the 2019-2020 revised budget: YES: Colarich, Mann, Marsnik, Omerza, Pointer. NO: None. ABSENT: Sjoberg. Motion carried. (Vote: 5-0)
