CITY OF ELY MINUTES<BR><BR>April 5, 2011<BR><BR>The Ely City Council Regular Meeting was called to order by Mayor Skraba at 6:00 p.m. on April 5, 2011 at the Ely City Hall.<BR><BR>PRESENT: Council members Debeltz, Nikkola, Omerza, Salerno, Sheddy, Zupec and Mayor Skraba (7)<BR><BR>ABSENT: None<BR><BR>Moved by Debeltz supported by Nikkola to approve minutes of January 18, 2011 Public Hearing & Regular Meetings, January 25, 2011 Special Meeting & Study Session, February 1, 2011 Regular Meeting, February 8, 2011 Special Meeting, February 15, 2011 Regular Meeting, March 1, 2011 Regular Meeting & March 15, 2011 Regular Meeting as presented with two corrections to February 8 Special Meeting with the School Board: Zupec was absent and Sheddy left the meeting at 6:35pm.

Ely City Council Public Hearing, January 18, 2011 <BR><BR> <BR><BR>The Ely City Council Public Hearing was called to order by Acting Mayor Omerza at 5:00 p.m. on February 16, 2010 at the Ely City Hall.<BR><BR>PRESENT: Council members Debeltz, Nikkola, Omerza, Salerno, Sheddy, and Zupec (6)<BR><BR>ABSENT: Mayor Skraba (arrived at 5:04 p.m.)<BR><BR>Also present: Ely Utilities Commission members Wilmunen, Colarich, Zahn, Boyles and Soderberg<BR><BR>The purpose of the meeting was to gather public input on proposed rate increases for the Ely water, sewer and electric.<BR><BR>Chair Wilmunen explained the purpose of the Commission and their responsibility to operate and maintain the water, sewer and electric utilities. He discussed the budget process the commission uses to determinate rates each year.

TIMBER SALE<BR><BR>The Combo Sale is located within T63N R10W, Sections 8,9,10, 11 and T63N R11W, Sections 11,12,13 and T63N R12W Section 13. The Forest Service will receive sealed bids in public at Kawishiwi Ranger District at 1:00 PM local time on 04/26/2011 for an estimated volume of 41 CCF of Jack Pine sawtimber, 114 CCF of Paper Birch sawtimber, 90 CCF of Spruce sawtimber, 1764 CCF of Aspen pulpwood, 418 CCF of Balsam Fir and Other Conifer Species pulpwood, and 979 CCF of Paper Birch and Other Hardwood Species pulpwood marked or otherwise designated for cutting. The Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Interested parties may obtain a prospectus from the office listed below. A prospectus, bid form, and complete information concerning the timber, the conditions of sale, and submission of bids is available to the public from the Kawishiwi Ranger District, 1393 Highway 169, Ely, MN 55731.

OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT<BR><BR>USDA-FOREST SERVICE, SUPERIOR NATIONAL FOREST, COOK, KOOCHICHING, ST. LOUIS AND LAKE COUNTIES, MINNESOTA; FEDERAL HARDROCK MINERAL PROSPECTING PERMITS PROJECT. A Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Federal Hardrock Mineral Prospecting Permits Project has been prepared and is available upon request (hard copy or on a compact disc) at the Forest Supervisor's Office, 8901 Grand Avenue Place, Duluth, MN 55808. Motion carried.<BR><BR>5.0 Open Forum: Bill Erzar, past board member, Morse Township: There is misinformation going around saying the district is going to replace the heating system in the Industrial Arts Bldg. and then it's going to be torn down a year later. This is not true and has never been a plan of the school board.
