ELECTION OF OFFICERS

Notice is hereby given to the qualified voters of the Town of Fall Lake, County of Lake, State of Minnesota, that the Annual Election of Town Officers and Annual Town Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. In case of inclement weather, the meeting and election may be postponed until the third Tuesday in March, (and will be aired over WELY radio, if necessary).

TUESDAY, MARCH 13, 2018
The Election Poll hours will be from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 PM
At which time the voters will elect:
One (1) Supervisor – Three (3) Year Term

The Annual Meeting will commence at approximately 8:30 PM (or as soon as possible) after the ballots are tallied and the Board of Canvass has met on TUESDAY, MARCH 13, 2018 to conduct all necessary business prescribed by law.

EUC Rates - February 07, 2018

Call to Order:
Mayor Novak opened the Public Hearing at 5pm in the City Hall Council Chambers.

PRESENT: Council members A.Forsman, Kess, Debeltz, Omerza, D.Forsman, Mayor Novak, EUC Commissioners Nikkola, Colarich, Wilmunen, and Campbell
ABSENT: Council member Callen, EUC Commissioners Richards and Soderberg

Purpose: This Hearing will be held to discuss and to hear public comment on the Ely Utilities Commission’s proposed rate increases on electric, water and sanitary sewer services.

Clerk/Treasurer Langowski went through the rate recommendations from the EUC budget and rate committee.

An increase to the monthly fixed or set fee by $2.00 for each the Water and Sewer customers.

The 2018 residential electric set charge will be $10 per service and $0.975 per KWH.

WATER SERVICE FREEZING

The weather conditions we are experiencing this year are conducive to freezing water lines due to low snow conditions. You may want to take precautions to minimize the chance of your water line freezing between the city water main and your home. If your line is not well protected by soil depth or insulation and is susceptible to freezing, you may want to run water to prevent a freeze up.

How much water do I need to run to prevent freezing?
The generally accepted practice is to run a stream of water from a faucet the size of a pencil.

When do I stop running additional water?
The chance of freeze up will be gone when the ice is off the local lakes in the spring.

WHEREAS, the Ely City Council is elected and represents all citizens of the City of Ely

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Ely reaffirms its commitment to:
• Act with honesty and integrity
• Promote an inclusive environment for all citizens, and to
• Promote respect for others and encourage tolerance for the diverse points of view held by our citizens

Upon vote taken thereon, the following voted:

For: Council Members A. Forsman, Kess, Debeltz, Omerza, Polyner, and D.Forsman, and Mayor Novak

Against: None

Whereupon said Resolution No. 2016-055 was declared duly passed and adopted this 6th day of December, 2016.

PUBLIC HEARINGS and COUNCIL MEETING DATE CHANGE

Notice is hereby given that the Ely City Council will be holding the following meetings on Wednesday, February 7, 2018:

5pm: Public Hearing for discussion and to hear public comment on the Ely Utilities Commission’s proposed rate increases on water, sanitary sewer, and electrical services.
Proposed Rates can be found on the City of Ely Website under City Departments – Ely Utilities or at the Clerk’s Office at City Hall.

5:30pm: Public Hearing for discussion and to hear public comment regarding the Interim Use Permit for the Jake Forsman Memorial Car Show and Burnout Competition on October 20, 2018.

6pm: City of Ely Council Meeting since the 2018 Caucus is during the regularly scheduled Council meeting time.

ANIMAL LICENSES for 2018 for your dog or cat are now available!

Licenses are required by City Ordinance No. 102, 2nd Series and can be purchased at the Clerk’s Office in City Hall, 209 E Chapman St, Ely MN 55731 or at The Ely License Bureau located at 17 E Chapman St. License fee is $5.00 for spayed or neutered dogs/cats and $9.00 for those who are not. Please bring a certificate of current rabies immunization from your veterinarian.
